Southern Woods Men’s Member – Guest Tournament Information Packet

Application

Participation:  Full golf members of the Southern Woods Golf Club may invite as a guest, any male golfer who is not a member of Southern Woods GC to participate in the Men’s Member/Guest Tournament. The tournament will be held on March 19, 20 & 21, 2004. All participants must have a valid handicap (USGA approved).  If the guest does not have a valid USGA approved handicap, he may submit a minimum of 10 signed and dated scorecards **, which have the course rating and slope by February 15, 2004.  It is the responsibility of each member to ensure his guest has a valid handicap, and to submit the handicap to the Tournament Committee.  If full membership participants do not fill the 72 available slots by February 1, the remaining tournament slots will be available to Social and Corporate members who wish to enter the tournament. Those applications, with $100 deposits, will be accepted between February 1 and February 15, 2004.  The balance will be due February 15, 2004.

Format:  The format will be 18 holes Team Better-Ball on Saturday, March 20, and 18 holes of Modified Chapman (alternate shots) on Sunday March 21.  Ninety percent of handicap will be used for both rounds.  Competition begins with 8:30 A.M shotgun starts each day.

Practice Round: There will be a practice round on Friday, March 19 with a 12:30 P.M. shotgun start. If the member or guest is unable to play the practice round on this date, alternative arrangements for an earlier practice round may be made with the Pro Shop.  

Activities:

·        Friday evening: Cocktail Party at Southern Woods GC, featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres and a charge bar.  At that time, the pairings for the Saturday round will be announced.

·        Pari-mutual betting on teams may be placed and raffle tickets for the Sunday drawings may be purchased on Friday evening.

·        Saturday: 8:30 A.M. shotgun start. 18 hole Team Better Ball format. A Barbecue Lunch (with beer) will follow. 

·        Sunday: 8:30 A.M. shotgun start.  18 hole Modified Chapman format.  An Awards Luncheon Buffet will immediately follow the round. The Awards Ceremony, announcement of pari-mutual results, and the raffle will follow lunch. 

Entry Fee:  The Entry Fee is $325.00 per team ($287.00 if Cart Lease member).  This fee includes:

·        Three rounds of golf (one practice and two in competition), cart fees, range balls and gratuities.

·        A gift for every participant.

·        Coffee and juice each morning.

·        Friday night cocktail party, with heavy hors d’oeuvres and charge bar.

·        BBQ lunch, with beer, on Saturday.

·        Buffet Luncheon on Sunday. Win, Place and Show Prizes for each flight.

·        Prizes for Closest to the Pin and Straightest Drive for each flight.

Credit cards:  Special arrangements have been made for this event so that guests’ Visa and MasterCard credit cards will be accepted in the dining room and pro shop during the tournament.

Wives/Significant Others (W/SO):  W/SO are invited to attend the Friday cocktail party and the Sunday Awards Luncheon.  A separate optional Ladies Tournament (12 holes) will be held on Saturday at World Woods nine hole “executive course” and three practice holes. 

·        Friday cocktail party is $12.50 per person

·        Saturday Golf Tournament is $33.00 per person

·        Sunday Awards Buffet is $24.50 per person

Prizes/Raffle: Prizes will be awarded to the top three-(3) teams in each flight. There will also be prizes for “Straightest Drive” and “Closest to the Pin” winners for each flight on Saturday and Sunday. Raffle tickets will be available all weekend for prizes including cash, rounds of golf at Southern Woods and World Woods, cart fees, and more.  The raffle will be held on Sunday during the Awards Luncheon.

 Cancellation Policy:  Members may cancel and receive a full refund before January 1, 2004.  A member who cancels between January 1 and February 15 will be assessed a cancellation fee of $50.00. After February 15, a full refund will be made for cancellations only if the member provides a qualified replacement team.

For our out of town guests, the Tournament festivities will end no later than 4 P.M. on Sunday.  Please make your travel arrangements accordingly.
